Walking through Aotearoa’s section

I remembered family hikes in the earthy green
The soil’s scent, the hum of pūkeko

I was both disappointed that stories like these are absent from the labels

And that the methods on how they actually arrived at Kew, often violent, omitted  

But I then learnt that restitution can begin here:

I began to imagine the Gardens as a possible site of return

A space to confront, to re-root, to re-label knowledge
